{"id":13763,"date":"2022-05-31T10:26:49","date_gmt":"2022-05-31T08:26:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.concept.tn\/?p=13763"},"modified":"2022-05-31T13:00:33","modified_gmt":"2022-05-31T11:00:33","slug":"mai-2022-maldives-reunion-de-demarrage-projet-gestion-des-dechets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.concept.tn\/en\/2022\/05\/31\/mai-2022-maldives-reunion-de-demarrage-projet-gestion-des-dechets\/","title":{"rendered":"May 2022 - Maldives: Waste Management Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.environment.gov.mv\/v2\/en\/\">The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology of the Republic of Maldives<\/a> CONCEPT, with other partners, was entrusted with the revision of the national Waste Management Policy and the preparation of a new national Waste Management Strategy, as part of the Maldives Clean Environment Project, financed through grant aid from the World Bank\u2019s International Development Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Waste management is now recognized in the Republic of Maldives as the most pressing environmental issue, owing to population growth, economic expansion and diversification, increase in number of tourists, changes in lifestyle and consumption patterns of locals, and complex logistics associated with providing efficient waste management solutions for sparsely populated remote islands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The integrated national waste and resource management strategy, currently under preparation by CONCEPT and its partners, makes recommendations for an associated implementation plan (short, medium and long-term) for waste and resource management in Maldives taking into account stakeholder feedback, goals and targets, outcomes and performance targets and cost-effectiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.concept.tn\/en\/\">CONCEPT<\/a> CONCEPT and its partners incorporate in this new National Waste Management Strategy international principles, Circular Economy models and UN Goals. The strategic documents shall protect Maldives\u2019 distinctive nature from marine and plastic pollution and shall sensitize local communities to move from a \u201cthrow-away\u201d to a \u201czero-waste society\u201d.
