At the heart of this initiative is the complete rehabilitation of the Fecal Sludge Treatment Plant (STBV) in <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sonfonia\">Sonfonia<\/a>, located in the Urban Commune of Ratoma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Modernization of the Sonfonia STBV: capacity increased to 250 m\u00b3\/day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Implant\u00e9e sur une superficie de 2,35 hectares, la station de Sonfonia b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiait autrefois d&#8217;une capacit\u00e9 de traitement limit\u00e9e \u00e0 50 m\u00b3\/jour. Hors service depuis 2012, cette installation ne r\u00e9pondait plus aux besoins croissants de la ville. Le Minist\u00e8re de l\u2019Administration du Territoire et de la D\u00e9centralisation (MATD), \u00e0 travers l\u2019Agence Nationale de l\u2019Assainissement et de la Salubrit\u00e9 Publique (ANASP), a lanc\u00e9 un chantier d\u2019envergure pour r\u00e9habiliter et \u00e9tendre la STBV \u00e0 une capacit\u00e9 de 250 m\u00b3\/jour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Un Syst\u00e8me \u00e9cologique : Le lagunage naturel<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The natural lagooning process, recognized for its sustainability and ease of operation, was chosen. This choice is based on three fundamental principles:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reuse of existing infrastructure to limit environmental impact and costs;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Operational reliability, thanks to a simplified design and low use of electromechanical equipment;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Operational flexibility, allowing maintenance without interruption of the treatment process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Work in progress: Strategic infrastructure under construction<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The consortium <a href=\"https:\/\/www.concept.tn\/en\/\">CONCEPT<\/a>-CIRA, which carried out the studies of the installations, is currently in charge of supervising the works, which include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Construction of a sludge reception and screening facility;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abandonment of old basins in favor of new settling and anaerobic basins;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Installation of a pumping station and 8 sludge drying beds<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Redevelopment of optional and maturation pools;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Creation of a storage area for dried sludge (420 m\u00b2);<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Development of access routes and internal networks (water, electricity, sanitation).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Progress status: 90% completed as of June 15, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Launched on January 5, 2024, the construction site experienced some delays due to local tensions and the partial occupation of the site. Thanks to the intervention of the authorities and the Project Coordinator, the situation is now under control.
