Designed for a capacity of 1,000,000 (population equivalent), this plant operates using an activated sludge process at medium load with anaerobic digestion of sludge and electricity production by cogeneration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Launched in March 2025 on behalf of the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.onas.nat.tn\/\">ONAS<\/a> (National Sanitation Office) and under funding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kfw-entwicklungsbank.de\/International-financing\/KfW-Development-Bank\/Local-presence\/North-Africa-and-Middle-East\/\">KFW<\/a>, this project aims to sustainably improve the performance of the WWTP. The initial phase, now completed, aimed to establish a comprehensive diagnosis to prepare for future technical and environmental studies (APS, APD, EIES, hazard study). This diagnosis included the following assessments:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Diagnosis of civil engineering structures.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Control of electromechanical and automated equipment \u2013 Verification of the condition of the installations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Energy audit \u2013 Optimizing consumption for a greener WWTP.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Operational modeling of wastewater and sludge treatment processes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Evaluation and simulation of current performance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assessment of HSE conditions \u2013 Guarantee of a construction site that complies with standards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Preliminary study of rehabilitation variants \u2013 Comparison of possible technical solutions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This phase ended with a restitution workshop organized on July 15 and 16, 2025 during which CONCEPT and its partners presented the results of this in-depth evaluation of the current state of the STEP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The next stage, with the imminent start of the APS phase, will focus on the in-depth technical and environmental studies, in line with ONAS's support towards a sustainable and efficient rehabilitation of the station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This project is part of an approach to optimizing sanitation infrastructure in Tunisia, with the aim of more efficient and ecological management of wastewater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Stay informed about the progress of this strategic project for Tunisian sanitation!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ce mois-ci, CONCEPT a achev\u00e9 la premi\u00e8re phase du projet d\u2019\u00e9tude de r\u00e9habilitation de la station d\u2019\u00e9puration de Choutrana I, la plus grande STEP de Tunisie.
