January 19, 2023 was marked in Abidjan by the official launch of the studies of the Detailed Urban Plans (PUd) concerning the majority of the 13 municipalities of Abidjan.Abidjan.

The ceremony was chaired by the Minister of Construction, Housing and Urbanism (MCLU) (see attached press report). It was entrusted to CONCEPTassociated with Dirasset, the development of the PUd of urban zones 5 and 7 concerning the municipalities of Yopougon and Songon as well as the zone of the Autonomous Port of Abidjan. The population concerned is approximately two million inhabitants and will increase to nearly 3 million in twenty years, established on nearly 70,000 ha.

Yopougon is the most populated commune of the District of Abidjan while Songon, the largest, constitutes the major axis of extension towards the West of the city-metropolis. As for the Autonomous Port of Abidjan, its development - corollary of the economic prosperity experienced by the country - passes through its extension in the lagoon space adjoining the ocean, which requires planning the occupation of the lagoon coastline reserved for the docks and easements.

De même qu’il faudra programmer des infrastructures de communication et de transport multimodal reliant le port au reste de la ville et plus loin aux grands axes routiers vers le nord du pays. Les projets de PUd des deux zones urbaines 5 et 7 devra s’intégrer à la fois dans le Schéma Directeur d’urbanisme du Grand Abidjan (SDUGA) -en cours de révision avancée- et dans les nombreux projets de transport urbain qui structurent l’espace urbain d’Abidjan. La cérémonie de lancement officiel a été suivie quelques jours plus tard par une réunion du Comité de pilotage de l’étude regroupant tous les organismes, ministères et collectivités intéressés par l’opération PUd, réunion au cours de laquelle le groupement CONCEPT-Dirasset a exposé son approche et méthodologie et présenté sa requête de données à collecter auprès des organismes représentés.
