On the occasion of the National Agriculture Day celebration days, a strategic meeting was held on May 20, 2025 at the headquarters of the Governorate of Manouba.

Mr. Mahmoud Chaïeb, governor of the region, chaired this day organized by the group of design offices CONCEPT/COBA/AGER in charge of the project in partnership with the CRDA Manoubaregional commission for agricultural development in Manouba.

The rehabilitation of the Laaroussia Grand Canal marks a major milestone for agricultural development in Manouba. Through optimized water management, this project is expected to enhance food security and boost the local economy.

During his speech, the governor emphasized:
✔ The importance of this priority project for the region.
✔ The need for stronger coordination among all stakeholders
✔ Adhering to deadlines for effective implementation

The Laaroussia Grand Canal plays a crucial role in irrigating 27,000 hectares in the lower basin of the Medjerda River, with an impressive flow rate of 13 m³ per second.
