This project is designed to build the capacity of the company Guma Valley Water Company in the control of the water transmission system of the Guma dam and related works
The technical assistance is designed not only to produce specific assessments and maps generated by consultants, but rather to build the capacity of the GVWC in each area of work. This assignment is the second phase and includes the following:
Guma Valley Reservoir and Water Treatment Plant (GVWTP)
Assessment of the condition of the GVWC treatment plant, including the reservoir intake and raw water transmission pipeline and assessment of treatment processes at the GVWTP. Health, safety and environmental (HSE) conditions of the dam assessment.
Conveyance networks with their interconnecting pipes and operation of the sluice system.
Condition assessment of bulk water conveyance pipelines including service tanks, pump station and critical valves.
Activity 1: Development of the HSE plan detailing project initiation, start-up report and project management and health and safety plan.
Activity 2: Assessment of the condition of the Guma Dam, GVWTP, and the conveyance and reservoir system and evaluation of treatment processes at the GVWTP, including:
Site surveys, Data collection, On-site examination and engineering assessment, including overall dam stability and confirmation of hydraulic capacity
Preparation of the Preliminary Study for the complete evaluation which includes all of the above tasks with recommendations for improvement
Assessment of the condition of the water conveyance pipes, and the raw water discharge pipes from Guma Dam to the treatment plant
Draft and final report of the treatment and water quality processes and recommendations for its improvement and management
Activity 3: Implementation of a health and safety plan and procedure including: Health and safety training, Health and safety compliance monitoring and reporting provided in the HS monthly monitoring reports
