In the context of the sustainable development of the city of Kaédi, CONCEPT carried out a strategic mission from February 23 to 27, 2026. This intervention marks a significant step forward for the city's waste management and recovery project, combining strategic planning with in-depth technical studies

Objectives and conduct of the Mission: Planning and Technical Validation

This mission was structured around three fundamental axes for the success of the project:

• Progress of technical studies: Completion of topographical and geotechnical survey campaigns. This data is essential for moving to the Detailed Preliminary Design (DPD) phase and was carried out in close collaboration with specialized firms and the technical services of the Kaédi city council.

• Strategic validation: Official presentation of the master plan for waste management and the Summary Preliminary Design to the local authorities. This step led to obtaining validation from the Mayor and the municipal council regarding the implementation of the general waste management plan in the city, notably its financing mechanisms, as well as the technical choices and location of future management equipment and infrastructures (transfer centers and a technical landfill center). This municipal decision validates the relevance of the studies and paves the way for the continuation of the operational phases.

• Environmental and social scoping: Presentation of the terms of reference (ToR) for the project's Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) to the Directorate of Environmental Assessment and Control of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development. This step resulted in the unconditional validation of these ToR, paving the way for the swift preparation of the project's ESIA.
